Data Security

At Chubby Works, we design and install cabling systems that will support multiple hardware systems and be suitable for today’s needs as well as those of the future. For example, Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat6a can be part of a bundled structured cable design, providing the infrastructure to connect mobile devices, CCTV cameras, WiFi, TV or music servers together as one. Without a cabling infrastructure that is structured for all technologies, your future growth can be limited. One of the best examples of this is old telephone wiring for PBX systems that now need upgrading to support VoIP.

Essentially what we do here at Chubby Works is to look at cabling design as an architect would look at a building. We see how best to bring all the required elements together to work as one harmonious system. If data cabling is lacking in design, the technology systems will lack in performance. Our designs will consider whether to cable directly to each location (e.g. desks) or to cable to distribution points which then link locally, allowing for easier future moves or rearrangements.

The structured cabling systems we provide will cover all elements of hardware and technology requirements and integrate them into a central design. This design will include cabinet space and locations, whether in a single location or split across several floors, and how these various locations will be linked. Categories of cabling can consist of a single specific standard of data cabling such as Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a or fibre optics. The differences in cable could be a requirement to meet termination practices, containment limitations or installation costs.

The overall design could call for Cat6a data cabling to desks for PCs and mobile devices, Cat6 for CCTV, Cat5e for access control and Cat6a for WiFi. Whatever the best solution is for you, we’ll cable the overall solution to the highest standard so that in the future all systems could work off the same data cabling. All hardware has a bandwidth and speed requirement for which the correct data cabling infrastructure must be installed to enable the hardware to perform at its required level.

The data cabling systems we provide are administered under a guideline of set cabling standards to ensure installations follow a consistency of installation and quality. In addition, we provide an allowance for expansion and coverage of the technologies installed. The correct design of structured cabling solutions will provide predictable performance and aid your future expansion as well as aid any future relocations, moves or changes encountered. Our structured cabling standards cover a range of expectations such as:

How the cabling should enter a building and be terminate

The type, construction and size of the entrance facility

The construction and size of the communications room and cabinet

The number of cables to allow per user and workspace area

The containment allowances for these cables

Installation and terminating guidelines for the cables

Testing and labelling expectations
